A police detective learns the history of a murder from the victim's wife: Insurance adjusters Bob Smith and Tom Smalley use their positions to make sexual conquests among their companies suburbanite claimants, following in the footsteps of of their boss, Jay Cramer. Bob agrees to pay the repair bill on housewife Sally Water's care if she will have sex with him and Tom, who is new with the company, similarly adjusts a claim for another housewife, Gina. The two couples become close friends and have a group sex party. Sally's college roommate Marilyn, asks to be included in the group's gatherings and Bob introduces her to Jay. The six plan an orgy, but Jay is delayed and Sally and Marilyn make love while awaiting his arrival and the beginning of the party. One afternoon, Jay intercepts a call meant for Bob and goes to a rendezvous. The woman's husband unexpectedly returns home and in the ensuing fight, the husband is killed, thus precipitating a police investigation.
